TikTok Shop Malaysia Commission Fee Update: What Sellers Should Recalculate Before 12.12
TikTok Shop Malaysia revised its Marketplace and Mall commission fees on 31 October 2026, with rates varying by product sub-category, seller type and Bonus Extra Program participation. Ahead of 12.12, Malaysian sellers should review their priority SKUs, seller-funded discounts and total platform costs instead of relying on a single headline commission rate.
TikTok Shop Malaysia introduced revised Marketplace and Mall commission fees from 00:00 on 31 October 2026. Orders placed before the effective date remain subject to the previous rates.
The change comes shortly before the 12.12 sales period, when many sellers are preparing campaign prices, vouchers and promotional budgets. Sellers that calculated their upcoming offers using the previous commission structure should therefore review their margins again before confirming campaign discounts.
The update does not introduce a new flat, listing or monthly fee. However, the applicable commission rate now depends on the product sub-category, whether the store is registered as a Marketplace or Mall seller, and whether it participates in the Bonus Extra Program (BXP).
What Changed in TikTok Shop Malaysia’s Commission Fees?
TikTok Shop has published a complete commission fee table for Malaysian sellers, with the listed rates inclusive of Sales and Service Tax (SST).
The update should not be interpreted as a uniform increase across every product. Some sub-categories received higher rates, while selected daily necessities and essential categories received lower rates or remained unchanged.
For example, the non-BXP Marketplace commission for Bath & Body Care increased from 15.12% to 16.74%. In contrast, the corresponding rate for Feminine Care decreased from 14.58% to 12.10%, while Pantry Food remained at 6.48%.
BXP sellers continue to receive lower Marketplace and Mall commission rates than non-BXP sellers. However, BXP participation may involve additional program fees and benefits, so sellers should assess the complete fee structure rather than comparing commission percentages alone.
Why the Commission Rate Is Not the Total Selling Cost
TikTok Shop calculates commission using the following formula:
Commission Fee = (Item Price – Seller Discount) x Applicable Commission Rate
Shipping fees and discounts funded by TikTok Shop are not included in the commission calculation base. Seller-funded discounts, however, reduce the item price used in the calculation.
The platform’s official non-BXP Marketplace example shows how the calculation works for a product with a RM1,000 original price and a RM100 seller discount:
Original item price: RM1,000.00
Seller discount: RM100.00
Commission calculation base: RM900.00
Marketplace commission at 12.96%: RM116.64
Transaction fee at 3.78%: RM34.02
Platform Support Fee: RM0.50
Total fees shown in the example: RM151.16
This example relates to a specific product category and seller type. It should not be treated as a universal TikTok Shop fee rate.
It also does not include product cost, advertising expenditure, packaging, warehousing, labour or other operating expenses. A product can still produce strong sales while generating a narrow or negative margin after these costs are included.
What Sellers Should Check Before 12.12
First, sellers should confirm the correct TikTok Shop sub-category for every priority SKU. Commission rates are assigned at the sub-category level, so a general store-wide percentage may produce inaccurate margin estimates.
Marketplace, Mall, BXP and non-BXP stores should also be calculated separately. Multi-store businesses should not automatically apply the fee assumptions of one store to every connected TikTok Shop account.
Next, sellers should recalculate campaign prices after including seller-funded discounts. The calculation should cover the updated commission, transaction and program fees, product cost, advertising, fulfilment and expected return costs.
This does not mean that every seller needs to increase prices. Depending on the product, a seller may instead reduce the campaign discount, adjust a bundle, change the promoted SKU or exclude a low-margin item from the campaign.
Finally, sellers should compare their estimates with actual settled order data after the new rates take effect. Reviewing a sample of completed orders can reveal whether the expected platform deductions and product costs match the final settlement.
Monitor TikTok Shop Profit with BigSeller
When commission rates vary by category and store type, sellers managing multiple stores need more than a single revenue figure to understand campaign performance.
BigSeller Profit Analysis allows sellers to review profitability by order, store and Merchant SKU. TikTok Shop sellers can also use estimated profit during order processing, although they must first configure the appropriate estimated commission rate for the store.
Because an estimated rate may not represent every product sub-category, it should be reviewed whenever platform fees change. Final profitability should also be reconciled against the financial data released by TikTok Shop for settled orders.
For broader monitoring, the BigSeller Business Analysis Report supports TikTok Shop data and provides store- and SKU-level views of sales, estimated profit, cancellations and refunds. Its data is refreshed on a T+1 basis.
BigSeller does not determine TikTok Shop’s commission rates. Sellers should always confirm their applicable category and program fees through TikTok Shop Seller Center before changing prices or campaign settings.
Recalculate Before Scaling 12.12 Sales
TikTok Shop Malaysia’s revised commission structure does not affect every product in the same way. Before committing inventory and discounts to 12.12, sellers should identify the correct rate for each priority SKU, include all applicable costs and validate the results against settled orders.
Campaign performance should ultimately be evaluated by sustainable profit, not only by order volume or gross merchandise value.
